Nike Applauds Shape America’s “50 Million Strong by 2029” Mission

As kids across the country head back to school, Nike and the Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE America) are committed to promoting physical activity as a critical part of children’s days.

Accordingly, Nike is proud to support SHAPE America’s launch of “50 Million Strong by 2029” (50 Million Strong), a national initiative and call-to-action for all schools in the United States to have well-designed health and physical education programs that provide opportunities for students to meet the recommended 60 minutes of daily physical activity.

“Nike believes in the power of sport to unleash human potential,” said Vanessa Garcia-Brito, Senior Director of Communications & Partnerships for Nike Global Community Impact. “We know that active kids do better in school and in life, and initiatives like '50 Million Strong by 2029' are key to helping kids find the joy in movement and the opportunity to lead happier, healthier lives. We are excited to see this nationwide commitment and applaud Miami-Dade County Schools for being a leading example.”

“50 Million Strong by 2029” is an exemplary response to delivering early positive experiences with sport and physical activity, one of the two asks in Designed to Move, the framework for action Nike spearheaded with more than 70 expert organizations, aimed at reversing the physical inactivity epidemic around the world. Since the release of Designed to Move, Nike has continued to invest in opportunities to accelerate children moving in their schools and communities, including partnering with Let’s Move! Active Schools, Aspen Institute’s Project Play and other leading organizations.
