LeftLane Sports Plans to Double Employment in 2014

LeftLane Sports, a members-only online retailer specializing selling endurance, ourtdoor and action sports gear at up to 70 percent off, plans to double its workforce in 2014 after reaching record breaking sales last year.

Last year, the retailer’s November retail sales equaled its entire sales for 2011, said Joe Koller, director of marketing for the retailer, which grew employment by 43 new positions to 90 from May to December.

The stout growth of 2013 has helped spur additional plans for hiring for the company.
“We are anticipating the need to double our workforce in 2014 to 160-180 employees. LeftLane Sports is hiring in all areas, including graphic design, programming, merchandising and buying, marketing, customer service, and fulfillment staff,” said Erik Fialho, chief strategy officer for LeftLane Sports.

In addition to the hiring increase, the company has been looking to expand its efforts to give back to the community in the form of sponsorships of key events tailored to the endurance and outdoor industries, as well as sponsorships of local charities. The company has become the Presenting Sponsor for the San Luis Obispo Marathon and Half in their hometown of San Luis Obispo, CA. The event brings in top athletes from around the country and last year saw over 5,000 participants take part in the marathon. In addition to the SLO Marathon, LeftLane Sports has become a gold sponsor of CASA, a non-profit organization aimed at protecting the most vulnerable children in our community.

LeftLane Sports growth comes at a critical time in the outdoor industry as many companies have experienced difficult times over the years. With consumers’ daily searches for deals on their favorite outdoor products, LeftLane Sports fills this growing demand and looks forward to more talented people joining their ranks.

LeftLane Sports is a members-only retail website offering premium Endurance, Outdoor, and Action Sports products at up to 70 percent off retail. Site membership is free and requires only a name and email address. The company claims to operate the largest network of members-only retail websites in the sporting goods industry, including LeftLaneSports.com, Seshday.com, PlanetGear.com, TightLinz.com, and Gearup.Active.com. The company was founded in 2009 by industry veterans and friends, Helio Fialho, Maggie Bartels, and Erik Fialho and is headquartered in San Luis Obispo, CA.
